I am a systematic reviewer and public health nutritionist with an interest in evidence synthesis methods to evaluate public health policies as well as on food policy evaluation and the commercial determinants of health.
I am also part of the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Policy Innovation and Evaluation (PIRU), which evaluates health and social care policy interventions for the Department of Health and Social Care in England. As part of PIRU, I co-lead the patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) panel for the whole research consortium, and use qualitative methods to evaluate policies and develop theories of change.
I co-lead the Evidence Synthesis theme at the Centre for Evaluation (LSHTM) and am associate editor for the Journal of Health Services Research & Policy (evidence synthesis). I am part of the Commercial Determinants Research Group and Food Policy Impact Lab (both at LSHTM).
Prior to joining the School in 2016, I worked in Canada as a public health nutritionist for a charity and a local government organisation, promoting healthy eating to children and adults in schools, healthcare and community settings. I used both health education approaches (e.g., cooking classes, workshops) and policy interventions to improve food environments (e.g., implementing the provincial school food policy in 24 schools, reviewing the content of vending machines in health facilities).
I have also coordinated cancer services for the region of Montreal, Canada, which represented the third of hospital admissions for cancer in the province. I have worked as a lecturer in the BSc Nutrition and BSc Dietetics at the University of Hertfordshire during two years.
I have completed a BSc in nutrition/dietetics at the Université Laval (Canada) and a joint master’s degree in public health from the Europubhealth programme at the University of Sheffield (UK), University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and the École des Hautes Études en Santé Publique (France).
